About this tool
Write an amount in Indonesian words, the way it is done on an invoice or a cheque. Enter a number and the page spells it out, grouping by ribu, juta, miliar and triliun, with an optional capital first letter. Decimals are read one digit at a time after the word koma.
Questions
- How is 1,250,000 read?
- As satu juta dua ratus lima puluh ribu. The scale words are spoken in order from the largest group to the smallest, the same way the digits are written.
- What about the number one?
- In front of a scale word it shortens: 1000 is seribu and 100 is seratus, not satu ribu and satu ratus. Everywhere else it stays satu, as in satu juta.
- How large a number can it handle?
- Up to sixteen digits, which covers kuadriliun. Past that the exact value can no longer be held as a number in the page, so the tool asks for a smaller one instead of printing something wrong.
